Whilst most modern printing methods utilise digital technology to some degree, the term digital printing specifically relates to digital printers that use either laser or inkjet technology. Digital printing is different from more traditional printing processes – such as litho printing – in that they do not use printing plates in the process. This significantly reduces the setup time for each individual job and therefore makes it a much more affordable option for smaller print runs. In addition to this, digital printers can also be extremely quick at printing the jobs themselves, making them ideal for work requiring a very quick turnaround.
Thanks to constant improvements in digital print technology and digital equipment that is available is now capable of producing press quality results and high levels of consistency. Digital printing offers great flexibility with regard to technological integration and make it possible to perform advanced processes with eas. In addition to this, digital printers are also more eco-friendly than ever, offering better levels of power and toner efficiency, whilst reducing potential waste.
